It is located in the village of Magdalena la Abundancia, Sacapulas, El Quiché, Guatemala; 230 Km. from the country’s capital. Our organization has over 100 members and among everyone we posses over 90 hectares of land that uses spray irrigation; but if we consider the land of contributors of nearby villages we have over 200 hectares.
Our main economical activity is vegetable plantations, in which white and yellow onions prevail. Additionally, we also cultivate snow peas, peas, green beans, corn, black bean, tomato and bell peppers.
ADIES was founded in 1999 by 13 people that join together with the purpose of improving the living conditions of the community’s inhabitants, establishing self-management actions for sustainable economical development mainly on the agricultural aspect in Magdalena la Abundancia and other nearby communities; taking into consideration the environment, which our subsistence depends on. We are currently over 100 members and we have great potential for growth.
Our community, the village of Magdalena la Abundancia, has good quality potable running water, electricity, 3 elementary schools, a nearby health clinic and access roads to transport our products. |
